A day before a game, there’s nothing ordinary about a Chivas USA training session. While the team and coaches work hard to perfect the work plan during the rest of the week, it’s the day before a game that they take a light day to have fun with recreational exercises that boost team chemistry.

On Friday morning, aside from working on fitness and passing exercises, the team held a four-inning kickball game. In the first inning, the yellow team was able to come out with seven homeruns, and ending with nine points. Meanwhile, the red team was unable to add points in the first two innings, but almost caught up to the yellow team in the last inning, for a total of seven points. The winning team (the yellow team), was rewarded by Coach Chelis with TV sets and GPS navigation systems.

Saturday’s game will be the first time Chivas USA match-up with Colorado in MLS, but the second of the year; the Red-and-White earned a 3-0 win in mid-February in a preseason match held in Las Vegas. The Rapids earned their first victory of the season last week in the second leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup against Real Salt Lake. Meanwhile, Chivas USA will look to extend the four-game unbeaten streak.

“Like every other game, we have to focus on us and to continue what we’re doing,” Avila told cdchivasusa.com.  “We have to worry about ourselves really, we’re on a good streak right now and we want to keep continue working. The training this week has been good and we have to focus on Saturday’s game only.”
