Training Report: Final practice in LA
Hours before flying to Salt Lake City, Utah, Chivas USA hit the training grounds for a final practice session on Friday morning at The Home Depot Center’s Field 6.
In good spirits, Head Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Solá, “El Chelis,” and the team made their final adjustments before facing Real Salt Lake on Saturday, April 20 at 6 pm PT at Rio Tinto Stadium. After last week’s 1-0 loss to the Colorado Rapids, the Red-and-White are determined to get back on track and take maximum points in this weekend’s game.
“We know it’s going to be a hard match,” goalkeeper Dan Kennedy said. “They [Real Salt Lake] have a good record at Rio Tinto and I always look forward to this game. It’s a good measure for us in this league. We have a little something to prove after last week’s performance.”
The home team enters the match with a 1-1 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place in Week 7. Salt Lake holds a 2-3-2 record and has not lost at home; their last loss at Rio Tinto came on August 18 of last season, a 2-1 win for FC Dallas. The last meeting between Chivas USA and Salt Lake was late last year, a 4-0 win for the Utah-based team with a hat trick by forward Alvaro Saborio.
