Chivas USA returned to Los Angeles from Salt Lake City on Sunday morning, and reported to training on Monday to begin preparing for the next game. On Saturday, the Goats fell 1-0 at Real Salt Lake in the team’s first road loss. The Red-and-White will host the San Jose Earthquakes this Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 pm PT at The Home Depot Center.

Reporting to training on Monday was defender Walter Vilchez, who practiced separately from the rest of the group and for the first time since suffering an ACL tear in the match against FC Dallas on March 10. Since then, the Peruvian has been receiving treatment and is slowly making his return to team training.

Also making his comeback, midfielder Oswaldo Minda joined the rest of the team for training. Minda has been with the team for the past two weeks, but had been sidelined due to a quad injury. After Edgar Mejia’s ejection in Saturday’s game, Minda’s recovery is a must for Coach Jose Luis Sanchez Solá, who isn’t left with many options for Saturday’s game.

Led by Assistant Coach Osvaldo Scansetti, the team worked on conditioning and recovery exercises. While the players that went all 90 minutes in Saturday’s game had a light training day, the remaining players continued working with Assistant Coach Walter Fleita to fight for a spot in Saturday’s 18-man roster.

Chivas USA will train everyday this week starting at 9:30 am at The Home Depot Center’s Field 6. For all training updates, follow Chivas USA on Twitter: @cdchivasusa
