After a two-week break, Chivas USA’s U17/18 & U15/16 teams returned to another positive week in U.S Soccer Development Academy action on Sunday.

The Red-and-White U15/16 team defeated the San Diego Surf U15/16’s 3-0 in San Diego. Mark Hernandez put the Goats in the lead in the 39th minute of the match. In the second half, Jorge Ruiz and Amaya Adonis each scored their 11th goals of the season for Chivas USA; Ruiz has scored at least one goal in the last three consecutive games for the U16’s. With the win, the U16’s moved back up to second place in the Southwest Division standings and clinched a spot in the USSDA playoffs.

A single goal by 16 year-old Caleb Calvert in the first half of the match gave Chivas USA’s U17/18 team the win over the San Diego Surf U17/18. Red-and-White goalkeeper Jake McGuire earned his sixth shutout of the season. The young Goats have not yet qualified for the USSDA playoffs, but can still fight to make the wildcard pool.

Chivas USA’s U15/16 & U17/18 teams will face Strikers FC on Saturday, April 13 at Orange Coast College starting at 10 am PT. For all the latest news and updates, follow the Academy on Twitter: @ChivasUSAYouth
