The 2013 MLS season has officially kicked off!

Chivas USA started off on the wrong foot, taking a 3-0 loss to Columbus Crew on Saturday. Here’s how the rest of the Western Conference teams did on Opening Match:

-Chivas USA will host FC Dallas in their second game of the season on Sunday, March 10 at The Home Depot Center. Dallas earned three points as they defeated Colorado Rapids. Dallas’ Jackson scored early in the match, givingDallas a 1-0 victory.

-Vancouver Whitecaps FC defeated fellow Canadian team Toronto FC 1-0 on Saturday at BC Place. Gershon Koffie scored the only goal for the ‘Caps in the 59th minute. Vancouver will host the Columbus Crew next Saturday.

-Jeld-Wen Field was witness to the exciting match-up between its home team the Portland Timbers and the New York Red Bulls. After the Red Bulls went up 3-1 in the first half, the Timbers came back and earned a 3-3 draw. Former Real Salt Lake forward Fabian Espindola scored two goals for New York, as well as defender Jamieson Olave, though his second was an own goal. Portland will host the Montreal Impact next Saturday.

-Seattle Sounders FC fell 1-0 in their first game of the season to the Montreal Impact. Despite the Sounders having more chances at goal, Davy Arnaud’s goal in the 35th minute was enough to give the Canadian team three points.

-Mike Magee notched three goals and Robbie Keane added his own in the LA Galaxy’s 4-0 victory over theChicago Fire on Sunday at The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy will be out of MLS action next weekend, as they play C.S. Herediano in Costa Rica on March 7 as part of CONCACAF’s Champions League. The LA club will host the second leg on March 13 before playing host to Chivas USA on Sunday, March 17.

-Closing out the first week, Real Salt Lake earned three points at Buck Shaw Stadium, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 with two late goals from Alvaro Saborio.
