After a tough loss in the season opener on Saturday against the Columbus Crew, Chivas USA returned to The Home Depot Center’s Field 6 to begin preparations for the next match.

Led by Strength and Conditioning Coach Osvaldo Scansetti, the Red-and-White kicked off training with a jogging session, while all three goalkeepers began practice with coach Daniel Gonzalez. The team then proceeded to work on recovery and conditioning exercises.

With the exception of Julio Morales and Giovani Casillas, Chivas USA’s starting line-up in Saturday’s game trained separately. The remaining players participated in an 8v8 scrimmage that began with two-touch plays that increased as play went on.

Seven players made their club and league debut for Chivas USA on Saturday against the Columbus Crew. Among those players was midfielder Marvin Iraheta, who joined the club last year, but missed the entire season after tearing his ACL in preseason.

“I felt very happy to have made my debut, despite the fact that I wasn’t able to play one minute last year,” said the 20 year-old El Salvador native. “It was very exciting for me and even more because it was the home opener, though the final score wasn’t in our favor.”

The Red-and-White will train everyday this week leading up to their second game of the season, hosting FC Dallas on Sunday, March 10 at 2pm PT at The Home Depot Center.
