U18’s earn first victory of the year; U16s to face US U14s on Wednesday in HDC

Chivas USA’s U18 squad earned their first win of the year after defeating Crossfire Premier 3-0 on Saturday and continued their streak on Sunday, beating Vancouver Whitecaps FC's U18s 3-2. A key player for the U18s was former U16s forward Caleb Calvert, who scored four goals with the 18s in both games. With the two victories, the U18s now hold a 7-5-5 record and sit in fifth place of the Southwest Division. The U18s will look to extend their streak this Saturday when they face San Diego Nomads SC at 12 pm PT.

Chivas USA’s U16s took their first loss this year on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Crossfire Premier on Saturday; the lone goal for the Goats was scored by defender Bilal Abdallah. The young squad was able to recover and earned a 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC U16s on Sunday. Mark Hernandez, Andrew Benitez and Jorge Ruiz each scored for the Red-and-White against the Whitecaps. Despite the loss, the 16s continue strong in second place in the Southwest Division, holding a 10-3-4 record.

The 16’s will take on U.S. U14 National Team on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 5:30p at The Home Depot Center. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the young Goats; entry and parking are free. After Wednesday’s match, the 16s will continue action in USSDA on Saturday facing San Diego Nomads at 2:30 pm PT.
