The U16s extend unbeaten streak; U8-U11 teams participate in State Cup

Chivas USA’s U16 team continued their unbeaten streak as they took a 1-0 victory over Pateadores on Saturday at Orange Coast College. Amaya Adonis, who has recently been playing with the U18 team, scored the game’s only goal in the 27th minute to give the Red-and-White the win. With the 18s, Adonis scored three goals in two games. The young Goats now hold a 9-2-4 record in the Southwest Division and remain in the second spot in the standings.

Meanwhile, the U18s have not been able to snap their losing streak, now at three games. On Saturday, the 18s were up 1-0 to Pateadores at the half after Romario Lomeli scored his third goal of the season. The Irvine team came back in the second half and earned the 2-1 victory over the Red-and-White. With the loss, the U18 Goats hold a 5-5-5 record in the Southwest Division and have dropped to sixth place in the standings.

The U18 and U16 teams will face Crossfire Premiere on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Redmond High School. The 18s are scheduled to kick-off action at 11 am; the 16s match will start at 1:30 pm.

State Cup

Kicking off action in State Cup on Saturday, Chivas USA U8's defeated FC Golden State Academy U9 4-1 in the round of 64. The following day, they took a 5-1 loss on Sunday against FC Los Angeles and were eliminated from further contention.

The U9 squad concluded the group phase unbeaten. They will move on to the round of 32 scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23 in Apple Valley. The U11s also went undefeated in the first round of State Cup; they earned a 1-1 draw with FC Los Angeles, defeated West Coast FC 5-0 and Fall Brook Villa 7-0. The young Goats move onto the next round starting Feb. 23.

Last, but not least, the U10 squad will open State Cup action on Saturday in Coronado.
