Re-Entry draft set for Friday

The Goats will have the second pick in Friday’s league-wide draft

With the first stage of MLS Re-Entry Draft this Friday at noon, Chivas USA prepares for its first steps toward the 2013 season. Teams will have their picks in reverse order of their finish in overall standings; the Goats hold the second selection in the draft.

The first Re-Entry Draft was held in December 2010; below are the eligibility rules of the draft:

  • Be at least 23 years old with a minimum of three years of MLS experience and whose options were not exercised.
  • Be at least 25 years old with a minimum of four years of MLS experience, be out of contract, and not have received a 'Bona Fide' offer
  • Be at least 30 years old with a minimum of eight year of MLS experience, be out of contract, and not have received a 'Bona Fide' offer.

Those players that have been listed as ‘out of contract’ may still negotiate their contract with their team until Thursday, December 6 by 2 p.m. PT.
