Academy's Ben Spencer scores in U.S. win over Canada; Delgado & Spencer in starting line-up

Chivas USA Youth's Marco Delgado and Ben Spencer were in the starting line-up for the United States U18 Team's 3-1 win over Canada's U18 squad today in The Home Depot Center's Field 1. Spencer scored the second goal of the match for the Americans in the 71st minute of the match.

Team USA entered the match dominating the Canadians in the first half with five shots on goal. Piakai Henkel scored the opening goal in the 45th minute after taking a shot from the 18-yard line. The young Reds came back to the second half determined to get back in the match. In the 64th minute, an unfortunate own goal in favor of the Canadian squad equalized the match. Eight minutes later, after a scramble for the ball, Chivas' Ben Spencer headed the ball into the back of the net, giving the U.S. back the lead. Seconds before the referee blewthe final whistle, Amado Moreno notched the final third goal for the young American squad.

Delgado and Spencer joined the youth ranks of the U.S. for a one-week training camp last Saturday, Nov. 17. The youth squad will face Canada once again on Friday, Nov. 23 in The Home Depot Center's Field 1. It all starts at 3p; parking and entry are free.
