After a stellar performance on the field in just 10 games this season, Chivas USA’s Youth Academy has named BU15 forward Ivan Gutierrez [pictured above, top row, second from right] this month’s Academy player to watch for.

In nine games played, Gutierrez has scored 12 goals, becoming the top scorer in the team and in the Southern California Development Soccer League Boys U15 Flight I category and adds six assists; he is also the only player in the squad that has disputed nine games this season.

The Martin Luther King Jr. High freshman has helped lead his team to a 8-2-0 record with 24 points, currently in fourth place. In the BU15’s last match, Gutierrez scored three goals in team’s 4-1 win over Real So Cal BU15.

Gutierrez’ talent has not been overlooked by Chivas Academy coaches, as he will be joining the U16 squad for the upcoming 2012 U.S. Soccer Federation Winter Showcase for the selected match set for Saturday, December 1 in Bradenton, Florida.
