Snow, cold and Dunkin Donuts -- that was the life that midfielder Shalrie Joseph knew for nine years while playing for New England Revolution.  Then on Aug. 1, his life changed drastically. Now, all that Joseph knows is sun, beach, palm trees and Krispy Kreme.

“The weather here in California is always beautiful, so that’s always good to wake up to and not worry much about the snow,” Joseph said. “I’m staying close to the beach, which makes it really nice and really easy, it’s been a nice adjustment for me.”

Since joining the club, the Grenada-born has been a regular in the Red-and-White line-up, starting in all 10 of his appearances. In the same month of his acquisition, the team travelled to the East Coast to face Joseph’s former team, the Revolution. With mixed emotions, Joseph played went all 90 minutes and scored two goals, helping the team come back and earn a 3-3 draw.

Even though Joseph loves life in Southern California, there’s one thing he misses: his chocolate lab, Zola.

“My dog is still in Boston; we’ve been traveling so much and I don’t like leaving her at home alone,” Joseph said. “I left her with a really good friend of mine so once I get settled in completely, I’ll definitely bring her.”

Joseph’s adjustment to a new team has been easy thanks to the help and support of his teammates, but the fans have made him feel especially welcome at every home game.

“From day one, all the people I’ve met, the home crowd has been very welcoming and I truly appreciate that,” Joseph said. “I just want to thank them for their support and supporting the club. Even though it was a rough year, we’ll be better next year and a lot better than we were.”
