Chivas USA Youth Academy Update: October 15

The Chivas USA Youth Academy continued their SCDSL fall season this past weekend

B8 Chivas USA 6, South Bay Force 2
Rincon Park, Chino On Saturday the U8's played the mighty South Bay Force and won by a score of 6-2. The little goats were relentless in their attack with Juanito Zaragoza and Favian Vasquez putting South Bay under pressure with their combination play. The U8's had a lead of 3-0 going in to the break and tacked on 3 more in the second half. Tate Smernoff, Malachi Morris and Russ Chaves smothered the South Bay attack with outstanding defending. The win keeps Chivas unbeaten in league play headed into their showdown with FCGSA next Saturday.

B9 Chivas USA 2, South Bay Force 1
Rincon Park, Chino The U9's found their way home on Sunday to take on a South Bay Force squad and came from behind for a 2-1 victory. Despite coming out early and creating several opportunities that were snuffed out by the talented South Bay keeper, Chivas found themselves down 1-0 at halftime. A little more focused, the little goats put together some very impressive soccer to create opportunities in the South Bay half of the field. Jonathan Lemus created two PK chances for Chivas with his quick and crafty display of skill, Giovanni Ortega put away both chances to help Chivas come from behind for another League win. Jazey Zavala anchored a Chivas defense that was under pressure from several South Bay counter attacks to keep the goats with in striking distance. The U9's will travel to North Ranch in Thousand Oaks to take on Real So Cal blue next Saturday.

Chivas USA 1, Strikers FC 1
Rancho Mission, San Juan Capistrano
Chivas U11's played their first showcase event of the year down in San Juan Capistrano. It was a showdown of North vs South Flight I. In their first match the little goats played a very talented Irvine Strikers squad. The little goats came out flat and gave up an early goal to go down 1-0...after the goal, Chivas took control of the game with good ball possession through midfield. It wasn't until late in the second half when Chivas' Victor Perez slotted home a great through ball to tie the match up 1-1.

Chivas USA 4, United FC 2
In the their second match, Chivas faced off against their affiliate United FC. Again, Chivas came out flat and gave up an early goal to go down 1-0. The little goats settled in and scored two goals within a five minute span to go ahead at the half 2-1. The second goal marked the first goal for young Tomy Angel, who plays for the Chivas U10 team. In the second half, Chivas were on their heels as United FC sent numbers forward. United FC managed to tie up the game half way through the second half. Chivas responded with two great attacks and finished the game off with a 4-2 victory.

B14 Chivas USA 9, Real So Cal 0
North Ranch, Oak Park
Coming to this game Saturday morning Chivas BU14 were tied for third place with Real So Cal Blue. The boys were very aggressive and dominated the entire game from the first whistle and in the 5th minute, Jose Arreola found Jose Ortega on the right side to make it 1-0. Then in the 10th min Diego Escobar stole the ball from the RSC defender outside the pk box and dribbled in to score 2-0. In the 13th minute, Leo Perez dribbled in from the left wing and placed the ball to Jose Arreola's feet who shot from outside the penalty box to make it 3-0. In the 17th minute, Tyler Marquez played a through ball to Diego Escobar who penetrated the RSC defense and slotted it home to make it 4-0. A minute later Diego Escobar broke up a play in the mid - field and dribbled through the RSC defense and scored from inside the box to make it 5-0. A couple of minutes later, Ortega crossed the ball from the right side of the box and Cesar Ramon calmly gained possession and scored. The first half ended with David Ramon finding Jose Ortega on the right side who shot far post to make it 7-0. The second half started with Chivas continuing to dominate possession and staying aggressive. In the 6th minute, Ethan Aurangzeb dribbled into the penalty box from the right side, went around the defender and crossed the ball to a wide open Jose Ortega. Ortega slotted it home to make it 8-0. Tyler Marquez ended the day with the ninth goal of the game. It was an impressive match for the little rojiblancos.

Chivas USA 0, Laguna United 2
Rancho Mission, San Juan Capistrano
The Chivas USA BU15’s played Laguna United on Saturday, October 13th during the SCDSL Showcase games. The goats faced Laguna United in the morning. The Chivas USA BU15’s had multiple opportunities to score, but could not finish. Laguna United jumped on the boys quickly and scored the 1st goal in the first half. The goats pressured, but Laguna United found the back of the net again beating the Chivas USA BU15’s 2-0.

Chivas USA 0, Santa Barbara 1
The second game was a hard fought battle between Chivas USA and Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara scored the only goal beating the goats 1-0. The Chivas USA BU15’s resume league play this Sunday, October 21st facing the LA Galaxy.
