The 2012/13 Chivas USA Youth Academy continued their SCDSL fall season this past weekend with all youth teams in action. Here are the results from this very successful weekend. Congratulations to our teams and thank you to our players, parents and coaches for their dedication and commitment to Chivas USA!

B8 Chivas USA Showcase
Pierce College, Woodland Hills
The U8's played in a two game jamboree Sunday at Pierce College in Woodland Hills and won both games. In the first game the 8's beat Real So Cal White by a score of 7-0 with three of those goals coming from Juanito Zaragoza. In a hot afternoon game the 8's beat Real So Cal Blue 5-1 to close out the first SCDSL U8 Jamboree. The highlight of the weekend was Angel Estrada's crafty play on the end line with a chip to the back post with a two touch volley for a goal from Bryan Velasquez. The U8's play in two weeks against the mighty South Bay Force!

B9 Chivas USA 3, FC Golden State 3
Rincon Park, Chino
The U9's played FC Golden State Academy on Saturday and ended with a 3-3 tie. The 9's jumped out to a 2-1 lead at half with two fantastic finishes by Giovanni Ortega with assists from Dennis Rodriguez. In the 2nd half sloppy play by the 9's lead to goals by Golden State giving them a 3-2 lead with minutes remaining. Instead of folding the 9's put a ton of pressure on Golden State and capitalized on a miscue in the back resulting in a great finish by Eric Barba to tie the game at 3-3.

B10 Chivas USA 2, Santa Clarita 0
Rincon Park, Chino
The U10's played a big and physical Santa Clarita squad Saturday and came away with a 2-0 win. The 10's maintained their poise and eventually broke down what was an athletic but extremely physical Santa Clarita team with a fast and furious passing attack with goals from Pedro Quinones and Tomas Angel. Adrian Munoz blocked a penalty kick to preserve the shutout. The 10's travel to Santa Barbara Saturday for a noon time showdown at San Marcos High School.

B11 Chivas USA 0, Real So Cal 2
Veterans Park, Pomona
The U11's played an SCDSL game this past Saturday against Real SoCal and suffered their first defeat. With a slow start to the game the U11's made a couple of early mistakes that put them in a 2-0 hole in the first half. The 2nd half was a different story as the 11's starting playing more of their game creating several chances with an Aggressive attack. Despite the chances created the little goats could not put the ball in the back of the net. Saturday just wasn't the 11's day as they ended with a 2-0 defeat.

B14 Chivas USA Showcase
San Juan Capistrano
The first game started off slow for Chivas. They maintained possession sporadically. Neither teams had too many chances to score in the first half as it ended 0-0. In the second half, Temecula Valley Hawks scored from outside of the penalty box. Chivas maintained good possession and picked up the tempo in the final 20 minutes, but Diego Escobar could not capitalize on his opportunities, and Chivas fell 1-0.

In the second game Diego Escobar scored the first goal in the first half & gave the little goats the lead. RSF tied the game later. Diego scored again in the second half giving Chiavs a 2-1 lead. In last 15 minutes RSF fouled Chivas in the penalty box and the referee awarded a penalty kick.  Mark Farias converted the penalty kick to give Chivas a 3-1 lead. The game ended with Chivas prevailing 3-2.

USSDA U16 Chivas USA 2, Real Salt Lake 7
Case Grande, Arizona
Chivas USA U16's did not come out to play on Saturday on a very hot day in the desert.  Axel Mendez and Jorge Ruiz were the only gaol scorers on the day as Real Salt lake came out with more intensity, and were able to sustain their high pressure throughout the match.  The U16's look to rebound in a couple of weeks as they prepare for the first mini classico of the season versus the LA Galaxy on Sunday, October 14th.

USSDA U18 Chivas USA 0, Real Salt Lake 0
Case Grande, Arizona
Chivas USA U18's had a chance to take sole possession of first place with a win versus Real Salt Lake on Saturday.  They came away with 0-0 tie, but know they squandered a chance to win the game.  With plenty of chances created throughout the match, they are looking forward to finishing their opportunities versus the LA Galaxy in two weeks.
