International preview: Jazic & Minda
After Sunday’s game at San Jose, Chivas USA defender Ante Jazic and midfielder Oswaldo Minda headed to their respective countries to prepare for this week’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Minda and the Ecuadorian National Team will face Bolivia today at 2pm. ‘La Tri’ currently sits in fourth place with nine points, just three points away from CONMEBOL standings leader, Chile. In their last match, the Ecuadorians took a 1-0 victory over the Colombian National Team in the same stadium where they will play today. Up next for the Minda and the Ecuadorians will be an away match against second place Uruguay in Montevideo this upcoming Tuesday at 2:30p PT.
Meanwhile, Jazic and ‘the Reds’ prepare to take the lead in CONCACAF’s Group C as they face Panama tonight at 4:45p PT in Toronto’s BMO Field. The Canadians are currently unbeaten in four straight international games (friendlies included), with the Red-and-White defender as Team Captain in the past two. Canada currently sits in second place of Group C with 4 points, while Panama is in first with 6 points. After tonight’s match, the Canadians will travel to Panama City to face the home team once again on Tuesday, September 11 at 4:45p PT.
