Time to make it or break it
For Chivas USA, there’s no time for mistakes. Especially in this Saturday’s home match against Seattle Sounders in The Home Depot Center.
The Red-and-White are in dire need for three points as the race for the playoffs is getting closing in and the Goats are just 10 points away from qualifying. On the other hand, Seattle sits comfortably in third place; unless Seattle loses the rest of their games this season, they’re pretty much set for the playoffs.
“At this point in the season, every team is looking to get the most points out of every match to qualify for the playoffs,” said Chivas USA striker Juan Pablo Angel. “For us, we have to go out and earn those points and get closer to the point of qualifying to the playoffs.”
This match will also be the battle to see whose defensive line is the best; the Goats sit in second place with 26 goals against while Seattle just has two less goals (24) with two more games than the rojiblancos. An important piece of the team’s back line includes Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, who sits among the top three ‘keepers in the league with 79 saves in 22 games and 1.18 goals against average.
“Overall, the mood is good,” said former Sounders defender James Riley. “We have a great game and a great challenge ahead of us on Saturday against a great opponent so we’re looking forward to that,” he finalized.
