Out to conquer another city
Chivas USA prepares to go into the scorching heat of the state of Texas to face FC Dallas for the first time this season this Saturday at 6pm in FC Dallas Stadium.
The Red-and-White is currently among the best six defensive lines in the Western Conference with just 18 goals against. Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy has played hero for the club in every match, helping the team with 52 saves and maintaining a 1.20 goals against average. With that record, Kennedy sits among the top three best goalkeepers in the league, just nine saves away from first place Matt Pickens of Colorado Rapids.
In the last match, Chivas USA was able to earn three points midweek against Canadian Montreal Impact with goals by forwards Alejandro Moreno and Juan Pablo Angel. By scoring his second goal of the season, Moreno became the top Venezuelan goal scorer in MLS with 52 goals scored, while Angel notched his third goal of the season, becoming the top goal scorer for the team this season. In the six games Chivas USA has played on the road, the team has won three; earned two draws and has only lost one match.
Meanwhile, Dallas has not had a good streak, ranking last place of the Western Conference with 13 points. The last time Dallas took a win was against expansion team Montreal Impact in FC Dallas Stadium on April 14. Aside from that, Panamanian forward Blas Perez has scored five goals this season, helping his team earn three of their victories so far this season.
The last meet between both teams in Texas was on July 31st of last year when a single goal by Honduran forward Marvin Chavez gave Dallas the 1-0 victory. The last Chivas victory in FC Dallas Stadium was in March 2009 when the goals by forwards Eduardo Lillingston and Bojan Stepanovic gave the Goats a 2-0 win. Overall, the Red-and-White has a 2-5-3 record in Dallas with eight goals in favor and 11 goals against.
