Chatting with the ChivaGirls: Whitney

Third-year Whitney talks about dancing and traveling the world

When it comes to third year ChivaGirl Whitney, there’s a lot more than meets the eye. The Missouri state native moved to Long Beach, California when she was just four years old. Since then, Whitney has lived the SoCal life.

Obtaining her Master’s Degree in Education from Whittier College, Whitney has been a full-time elementary school teacher for the past six years. Before joining Chivas USA, Whitney danced professionally for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers squad for four years. And if you’ve ever been to Disneyland, you’ve probably seen her before; Whitney danced for ten years in many parades and special event going on at the happiest place on earth.

When Whitney is not busy being a teacher or a ChivaGirl, she joins her bowling team and competes in tournaments. She enjoys spending time with her family, her boyfriend, and her dog, Lucky (2).  She enjoys cleaning her house, watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette while snacking on popcorn and candy (Whitney admits she has candy stashed everywhere, including her car).

When asked what the most interesting thing that has happened to Whitney, she responded: “My boyfriend and I took a 12-day Mediterranean cruise so we were halfway across the world. When we arrived in Italy, we found out our luggage hadn't made it, so we end up having a real adventure, going 12 days without our luggage.” Luckily the nightmare ended… on the last day of her trip.

In the three years she’s been with the squad, Whitney described being a ChivaGirl as the right balance in her life: “When I’m with the ChivaGirls, I have beautiful friends that support me and I also get to do a job that I LOVE; I get to work hard, dance, enjoy soccer and all the Chivas USA/ MLS fans. I think being a ChivaGirl comes with a lot of perks; it helps me professionally and in my personal life and it allows me to grow in so many areas of my life. I’ve been able to get my Master’s, travel the world and then come back and still be part of a team.”
