Chivas USA announced today that it will face Premier Development League (PDL) club Ventura County Fusion this Tuesday, May 29 at 7 p.m. PT at Ventura College Sportsplex in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The prestigious national soccer tournament is open to all United States Soccer Federation (USSF)-affiliated teams, including MLS franchises and other prominent amateur and professional sides.

The Red-and-White will face fellow PDL side for the second time this year; the first clash between the two clubs was in a preseason friendly on January 27, 2012, match that ended in a 1-0 victory for the Ventura club.

Chivas USA has qualified to almost every U.S. Open Cup since the start of the franchise in 2005, except for the 2011 tournament. The Red-and-White’s best Open Cup run was in 2010, when the team reached its best finish, ending contention in the semi-finals due to a loss to Seattle Sounders. The winner of the match will move on to the fourth round where the Red-and-White could potentially face home rival LA Galaxy, pending the result of said team against the Carolina RailHawks of the North American Soccer League (NASL).

To purchase tickets to this match, please contact the Fusion at (805)830-8027, or by ordering online at www.vcfusion.com/tickets. Fans are encouraged to buy their tickets early as ticket prices are $10 each for adults, and $5 for children ages 17 and under, if ordered in advance. At the door, tickets will rise to $15 for adults, and $8 for children. Doors will open to the public at 6:15 p.m.
