PORTLAND, ORE. – Chivas USA earned a 1-1 draw with MLS Western Conference rivals the Portland Timbers last night in the Red-and-White’s second match of three held at JELD-WEN Field. Cesar Romero opened the score in the 21st minute for Chivas USA, while Timbers’ defender Ryan Kawulok scored the equalizer in the 78th minute.

Brazilian midfielder Allan Souza penetrated the Timbers' midfield from the right side of the pitch, and in the 21st minute crossed to Cesar Romero who barely reached the ball and placed it inside the net close to the right post of Portland's GK Jake Gleeson to score his fourth goal of the preseason, and the first of the match for Chivas USA.

The equalizer came in the 78th minute for the Timbers through a corner kick that went right inside the Goats’ box where Ryan Kawulok received the ball and beat GK Tim Melia, scoring the final goal of the match.

The Red-and-White will now prepare to face the San Jose Earthquakes this Sunday, March 4 at 2:30 p.m. PT at JELD-WEN Field. The match will culminate Chivas USA’s participation in the Portland Tournament and will be the last match of the preseason, ahead of the Goats’ home-opener on Sunday, March 11 against Houston Dynamo.
