This Thursday, Chivas USA will face host team Portland Timbers in the Red-and-White’s second match of three in the Portland tournament.

Chivas USA fell 2-0 against Sweden’s AIK from the Allsvenskan First Division in its first match as part of three-match tournament at JELD-WEN Field in Portland. AIK’s forward Viktor Lundberg opened up the scoring for the Swedish team in the 40th minute after receiving a pass from Atakora, while the latter would score a goal of his own in the 52nd minute, and with that, culminate the scoring in the match. Despite controlling the ball in the majority of the match and creating several goal scoring opportunities, the Red-and-White’s shots at goal were blocked by the Swedish team’s defensive line.

On the other hand, Portland comes from a 1-1 tie with San Jose Earthquakes. The Timbers’ midfielder Diego Chara opened the scoring for the Portland team in the 15th minute, only to be equalized by the San Jose Earthquakes with an own goal by defender Hanyer Mosquera in the 59th minute.

The last time the two teams faced each other was on August 4, 2011, when the Timbers took a 1-0 victory over Chivas USA at JELD-WEN Field during the MLS regular season. After this match, Chivas USA will prepare for their final match of the tournament, and of preseason, against San Jose Earthquakes to be held on Sunday.

There will be a live stream of this match via Portland Timbers’ website starting at 7:30 p.m. PT; you can access the match by visiting, or you can follow the match via Chivas USA’s official Twitter page: @cdchivasusa
