Chivas USA go for San Diego Clasico title
Chivas USA will face off against Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente of the Mexican First Division tomorrow, Wednesday, February 22 at 8 p.m. PT in University of San Diego’s Torero Stadium in search of the San Diego Clasico title.
“It’s another step in our preparation for the season. Everything we do is to try to be as prepared as possible on March 11,” said Chivas USA Head Coach Robin Fraser. “This will be a test for us against a very good team and as we continue to improve at the various aspects of our play, this will be another opportunity to test ourselves in a very good environment.”
This will be the first time the Red-and-White face the Mexican side Xolos. The team led by head coach Antonio Mohamed is currently in 8th place in the Mexican First Division League, with 12 points and is lead in goal scoring by José Gustavo Sand (5).
The San Diego Clasico title is currently held by Xolos after beating the LA Galaxy last year in a penalty shoot-out. In previous years, the San Diego Clasico has featured Mexican First Division team Club America and England’s Football League Championship team Portsmouth FC.
