ChivaGirls Auditions

Find out what it takes to be a ChivaGirl!

The 2012 ChivaGirl auditions got started on Saturday morning in the Velodrome on the Home Depot Center campus.  Choreographer John Peters, assisted by four former ChivaGirls, taught two very different dance combinations, one to Flo Rida’s “Good Feeling” and the other to the 70s disco hit “Shake Your Groove Thing” by Peaches & Herb.

66 dancers, including seven veterans from last year’s squad did their best to impress the panel of judges, which included ChivaGirls Director Aimee Edmundson, representatives from the Chivas USA front office, experts in the fields of dance and pro sports entertainment, and two season ticket holders.  All of the judges agreed that this was the most competitive ChivaGirls audition ever.  With so many beautiful and talented women to choose from, it would not be easy to narrow the field.

By the end of the day, after two rounds of auditions and eliminations, half of the group had been eliminated.  Those still in the running returned to the Home Depot Center on Sunday for group interviews with Aimee, John, Gina (the team’s stylist), and Laura (a veteran from last year’s team who is now the ChivaGirls’ coach).  The interviews went well, giving Aimee and her team a chance to get to know the dancers a little better.  It was also an opportunity for the dancers to learn a little bit more about the team and the Chivas USA organization.

With the interviews behind them, the dancers have two days to rest sore muscles and rehearse the choreography they learned on Saturday.  Tuesday’s final audition will be action-packed. The candidates will be expected to perform both dances perfectly. They will also be asked to perform a brief solo, and learn and execute a short kickline/sideline dance.  It is their last chance to make a great impression on the judges.
