Chivas USA acquires Ecuadorian midfielder Oswaldo Minda
Carson, CA. (Wednesday, December 21, 2011) Chivas USA announced today that the club has acquired Ecuadorian midfielder Oswaldo Minda. Minda will be added to the Chivas USA roster pending receipt of his ITC and P-1 Visa.
Since 2008, Minda has played for Deportivo Quito of the Serie A Ecuadorian professional football league where the Azulgrana were crowned champions just this past Saturday, December 17.
“Our commitment and goal to bring in the best players for our club continues. When we scouted in South America, Oswaldo Minda was one of the players we wanted, and today he becomes part of the Chivas USA family,” commented Chivas USA General Manager, Jose Domene on the acquisition. “His experience in both local and international competitions will be of great value. We welcome him to the Red and White, and we are sure he will adapt to coach Fraser's system very quickly.”
Minda, 28, originally from Pasaje, Ecuador has played his professional career with Sociedad Deportivo Quito since 2008. He appeared in 85 matches 82 as a starter, where he scored 11 goals in 5,606 total minutes. Oswaldo has figured prominently with his national team of Ecuador; since 2010 he has recorded 13 caps, including 7 as a starter for ‘La Tri’ where he has tallied 679 total minutes with participations in friendlies for 2010 and 2011 as well as Copa America and World Cup Qualifying also in 2011.
