This past week all Academy and Developmental teams were in action.   During Sunday’s U14 Academy match goalkeeper Jaime Serna Granillo collided with a Beach FC player.  Jaime took a cleat to the knee and was rushed to UCLA medical. On Monday morning Jaime had a successful surgery to repair damage on his knee.   Everyone in the Chivas USA family wishes Jaime a speedy recovery.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29TH

USSDA U17/18
Chivas USA Academy 2 vs Real Salt Lake 2
Casa Grande, Arizona
Chivas USA were facing a tough challenge going into Saturday’s game versus RSL.  This game was to see who would be sitting in first place at days end.  Goals from Anthony Dheming and Ben Spencer earned the U18’s a draw.  Jake McGuire saved a last minute penalty kick to secure the draw.  Chivas USA next match is this Sunday in the SCDSL Showcase.

USSDA U15/16
Chivas USA Academy 1 vs Real Salt Lake 3
Casa Grande, Arizona
Both teams were tied for first place going into Saturday’s game.  After going scoreless in the first half, RSL opened the scoring early in the second half to go up 1-0.  Romario Lomeli equalized just 10 minutes later.  In the end, RSL got some lucky breaks and scored two late goals to take the victory 3-1.  Chivas USA is off for the next two weeks.

Mt San Jacinto College

U15’s Chivas USA Academy 2 vs Beach FC 3
Veterans Park
On Saturday the U15's played Beach FC and suffered a 3-2 loss.  The 15's came back twice after being down a goal to tie but couldn't come back a third time at the end of the game.  Both Jonathan Suarez and Trey Foresta scored in the loss and also received quality play from Tommy Fraher.

U15’s Chivas USA Development 2 vs OC Revolution 3
Whittier Soccer Complex
The U15’s were playing a make-up game on Saturday versus OC Revolution.  Goals from Israel Torres and Alejandro Lucio looked to be enough to get an away result, but the home team scored on a last minute free kick to take the win 3-2.

U14’s Chivas USA 2 vs Real So Cal 1
Veterans Park
On Saturday the U14’s faced probably the best team in their division.  Although the U14’s did not play their best game, they managed to win the game 2-1.  Both goals were unassisted.  Alex Luna scored the first goal with a powerful shot from 25 yards out that hit the post and went in.  The second goal came from a long range shot/cross from our left side by Francisco Lara. On the other end they score one on us because of a bad clearance by the GK.

U13’s Chivas USA Development 7 vs South Bay Force 0
North Torrance
On Saturday the U13’s put in their best performance of the year.  Goals came from Justin Islas (2), Sebastian Martinez (3), Marc Farias and Byron Vega

U12’s Chivas USA Development  4 vs South Bay Force 0
El Segundo HS
Goals from Aaron Abarca, Moises Serrano, and two goals from Leo Perez proved to be more than enough, as the U12’s played their best soccer of the year.  They controlled the game throughout the match, and poured in three goals in the second half.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30TH

U14’s Chivas USA Academy 2 vs Beach FC 3
Redondo HS
During the first half of play Christopher Huerta headed in a ball into the goal after receiving a great cross from Francisco Lara.  The first half didn’t end the way coach Alex intended when goalkeeper Jaime Serna Granillo collided with a Beach FC forward and had to be carried off the field.  In the second half, Jason Ballejo equalized the match on a breakaway.  Beach FC added a late goal to take the 3-2 win.  It was a disappointing loss, but more importantly was the health of their teammate.

U9’s Chivas USA Academy 6 vs Exiles SC 0
Dapplegray Elementary
On Sunday the U9's played PVSC Exiles Black and bounced back from their loss last week with a win by a score of 6-0.  The U9's were led by Alfonso Becerra with his 2 goals, along with Bryant Ulloa, AJ Valenciano, Dominik Davila and Joel Trejo each scoring a goal a piece.  The U9's play both Arsenal and Real So Cal Blue next weekend.
