Chivas USA Youth Academy Update - November 19th & 20th

Results from this past weekend

All Chivas USA Youth Academy and Developmental teams were in action this week.  This past weekend marked the end of the 2011 SCDSL season for our youth teams.  Heading into the winter break, Chivas USA youth teams will take a small break before they return to prepare for Cal South State and National Cups.  Our older youth teams head off to participate for their respective high schools.  US Soccer Development Academy teams are heading to Florida in two weeks to participate in their first Showcase of the season.

SATURDAY, November 19th

USSDA U17/18
Chivas USA 6 vs San Diego Surf 0
San Diego Polo Fields
The Academy teams were back in action on Saturday after a two week break in their schedule.  They came out strong from the start and showed they were the better team throughout the match.  Mark Verso and Esteban Rodriguez both added two goals.  Anthony Dhemming and Marco Delgado also added a goal apiece for the 6-0 win.  The U18’s currently sit in second place in the Southern California Conference.

USSDA U15/16 Chivas USA 0 vs San Diego Surf 1
San Diego Polo Fields
The U16’s came into Saturday’s Southern California Conference match in the third place.  The game was played at a high pace, which created a lot of turnovers and played right into Surf’s plan.  Chivas USA never got control of the match, and on a defensive miscue with minutes remaining proved to be the difference in the match.  The U16’s fell to Surf 1-0, but remained in third place.

U15’s Chivas USA Development 1 vs. Pateadores 5
Vanguard University
This game was a tale of two halves.  Playing down a man for the entire match the U15’s managed to go into halftime tied 1-1 with a goal from Israel Torres.  In the second half Chivas USA didn’t have the legs to finish the game off.  The team played with a lot of heart and effort.

U14’s Chivas USA Development vs. Exiles SC
Postponed due to the MLS Cup Finals

U13’s Chivas USA Development vs. CBB
College of the Canyons
No result

U12’s Chivas USA Development 0 vs. CZ Elite 0
Royal Oaks Elementary
On Saturday the U12’s traveled to Royal Oaks Elementary School to play against CZ Elite. The final score was 0-0.  Both teams had an equal amount of scoring opportunities.  Goalkeeper Ricky Guerra stopped a penalty kick with ten minutes to play in the game.   As always the U12’s played with effort, pride, and heart.   The team finished with an overall record of 3-5-2.

U9’s Chivas USA Academy 2 vs. South Bay Force 1
Yukon Elementary
On Saturday the 2003's traveled to Torrance to play the South Bay Force and won by a score of 2-1.  Alfonso Becerra and Collin Canales both scored in the win.  Danny Vasquez played a great game at center back stepping in for the injured Kevin Rodriguez and Aymar Cuevas.

SUNDAY,  November 20th

U15’s Chivas USA Academy 4 vs. South Bay Force 0
Manhattan Village
The U15’s finished off the season with a great performance in some intense weather conditions.  In the pouring rain, the U15’s came out and scored in the first 20 seconds of the match and never turned back.  Caleb Calvert scored two goals, while Omar Hermosillo and Guy Horcitas pitched in with a goal apiece.  The team finished tied for fourth place in Flight I with a 5-5-2 record.  The boys now head off to represent their high schools for the winter season.

U14’s Chivas USA Academy vs. Legends FC
Ayala Park

U15’s Chivas USA Development vs. CBB was canceled due to rain.
U9’s Chivas USA Academy 2 vs Real So Cal 2
Pierce College
On Sunday the 2003's traveled to Woodland Hills to play the always tough Real So Cal Blue team and came away with a 2-2 tie.  The game was called part way in to the 2nd half due to the rain.  Both Joel Trejo and Dominik Davila scored in the tie and keeper Adrian Gonzalez made two great saves in the muddy 6 yard box.  In probably one of the most impressive games played to date the 2003's were calm and poised with the ball at their feet playing at times one and two touch soccer around an extremely athletic Real So Cal Blue squad.  The 2003's will participate in the Harvest Cup over the Thanksgiving break.

We want to thank all the coaches and players on a great SCDSL season.  A special thanks goes out to Missy Juarez who devoted her free time throughout the league season to help out all the youth teams.

Happy Holidays to all the Chivas USA coaches and families.
