PORTLAND, Ore. – Forward Bright Dike recorded two goals, Jorge Perlaza, Rodney Wallace, and Brian Umony each added one of their own while Peter Lowry registered two assists to lead the Portland Timbers Reserves to a 5-1 victory over the Chivas USA Reserves at JELD-WEN Field on Tuesday.

With the win, the Timbers Reserves stretch their unbeaten streak to six matches and haven’t lost a match since May 30.

Perlaza started the scoring for the Timbers Reserves when he headed in a cross from Lowry into the back of the net in the 32nd minute. A minute prior, Umony almost put in a header off of Lowry’s corner kick but the ball was saved off the line by the Chivas USA Reserves defense, sending the rebound straight to Lowry. Lowry gathered the ball and then sent in the right footed cross to Perlaza for the goal.

The Timbers Reserves increased their lead seven minutes later when Wallace netted his first Reserve League goal of the season. Perlaza crossed the ball into Lowry from the left side, Lowry took a touch and found Wallace at the top of the box, who sent the ball past goalkeeper Sergio Arias to make it 2-0 Portland.

In the 46th minute, Wallace dribbled up the left side and sent a cross in for Dike and the forward converted on a diving header over Arias for his third Reserve League goal of the season and gave the Timbers Reserves a 3-0 halftime lead.

Dike capped his brace in the early into second half. In the 53rd minute, trialist Omar Jasseh crossed the ball in for Dike at the top of the box. Dike took a touch to his right, got by defender Zarek Valentin and then beat Arias to find the lower right-hand corner of the goal.

Sixteen-year-old forward Ben Spencer put the Chivas USA Reserves on the board in the 62nd minute when he scored his first goal in his MLS Reserve League debut. Spencer received a cross from midfielder Eric Gonzalez and put the ball past goalkeeper Jake Gleeson to trim the deficit 4-1.

Umony added his third Reserve League goal of the season in the 78th minute. Midfielder Freddie Braun found Umony streaking down the right side. After gathering a deflected ball off Chivas USA defender Chris Cortez, Umony then dribbled to his left beating Arias in a one-on-one before depositing the ball into an open net, sealing the 5-1 win for Portland.

In their next match the Timber Reserves visit the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves in their Reserve League regular-season finale. The Chivas USA Reserves take on the LA Galaxy Reserves in their next match on Monday, Oct. 10 at the LA Galaxy practice field.
