Chivas USA Youth Academy Update

Update for the week of September 12, 2011

This past weekend Chivas USA Youth Academy and Developmental teams took to the field. It was the first league game for the 2011 season, in the newly formed Southern California Developmental Soccer League.

Chivas USA Youth Academy Under 16's:

In the first half of play, both teams had good possession in the midfield while trying to impose their individual style of play.  After several attempts to score in the first half, Chivas USA finally took the lead with aggressive play in the final third and had a 1-0 advantage going into halftime.

The second half saw much of the same with numerous shot attempts on goal.  Chivas USA was able to capitalize on one of those attempts to end up winning the game 2-0 vs OC Revolution.

Chivas USA Youth Academy Under 15's:

Chivas USA had a difficult time in the final third this past weekend. They created a number of goal scoring opportunities but could not put the ball away. The team dominated in possession and was creative going forward. In the end, the team gave up a late goal with 5 minutes remaining in the game.  The team may have lost 0-1, but the team came away encouraged on how they played as a team.

Chivas USA Youth Academy Under 14’s:

The U14 team faced off against Real So Cal in their first SCDSL game of the season.   Players were challenged physically and mentally.  Two goals came from individual mistakes and the third goal came from the penalty spot.  The boys will regroup and get ready for the next challenge. It is a very good level with strong teams. Next time we are going to face this team will do a better job !!!

Chivas USA Developmental U13's:

The U13 team created a number of chances, but only could salvage a 2-2 draw in the end.  There were plenty of opportunities in front of goal for the Chivas players, but they had trouble putting away their chances.  They look to rebound next week versus Beach FC.

Chivas USA Developmental U14's:

The U14 team came away with an emphatic 5-0 win versus South Bay Force.  Chivas USA players were very creative going forward and finished their chances in front of goal. Coach Adrian Morales was very encouraged by his team play, despite only being together for a few months.
