Poll: Who should start at forward against Portland?

With players away, and others returning to action, who should start?

It’s an interesting week for Coach Fraser with players coming and going from Chivas USA camp. There are players still out on international duty (Alejandro Moreno and Andrew Boyens), players returning from their national side (Simon Elliott), players returning from suspension (Jorge Flores and Marcos Mondaini) and a number of players recovering from injury (Paulo Nagamura and Mike Lahoud returned Wednesday against Vancouver).

Fraser will have to make some tough choices as he selects the starting eleven for the match against Portland this Saturday. Assuming Fraser continues to use the 4-4-2, perhaps foremost amongst his choices is picking the two guys to start up top.

We want to know what you think. What pairing of forwards should coach Fraser select for the game against the Timbers?

Justin Braun and Chris Cortez

This would be the same pairing from Wednesday’s game against Vancouver. Both Braun and Cortez are big, physical forwards and together present an imposing challenge for defenders.

Braun and Victor Estupinan

This would be the classic “big and small” pairing, with Braun likely acting as a target man and the speedy Estupinan playing off him. They paired together for the final 15 minutes of Wednesday’s game, as Chivas USA searched for a winner against Vancouver.

Braun and Marcos Mondaini

The creative Argentine Marcos Mondaini is eligible to return from suspension for the Portland game, and could step right into the lineup. Mondaini’s skill could prove a perfect combination with Braun’s speed and strength.

Cortez and Mondaini

Another intriguing possibility for Fraser to consider. The young Cortez showed well in his first MLS start Wednesday, and could pair with Mondaini if Braun drops into the midfield.
