Youth Team Tryouts Friday
This Friday, young soccer players throughout the Los Angeles area will have a chance to take a major step in achieving their dreams, as Chivas USA hosts "Sangre Nueva" Youth Team tryouts.
Boys born between 1993 and 1999 are invited to attend the trials held by the Red-and-White’s youth Academy, June 3rd in Bell Gardens as well as July 23rd in Simi Valley. Chivas USA coaches will be in attendance scouting the players, with the goal of finding new additions to the successful Chivas USA academy teams.
“We always get kids from these tryouts,” says Chivas USA Director of Youth Development Sacha Van der Most. “Probably on the U18 and U16s right now, we have maybe eight kids who came through the tryouts.”
The Academy has always been an integral part of Chivas USA, and this season is no different. Several U18 players have played in the reserve league this year, and current first team players Gerson Mayen, Chris Cortez and Bryan de la Fuente are all graduates of the Academy. Jorge Flores also joined the team via a tryout, “Sueno MLS”. These upcoming tryouts are a chance for talented young players to be seen by professional coaches and try to add their names to that list.
“It’s a way for us to give players a chance to show themselves to us,” says Van der Most. “If you see the amount of phone calls and emails I receive on a daily basis, and the other coaches too- there is a tremendous amount of people that want to be part of our program.”
The tryout this Friday is a great opportunity for players to show they belong in that program, and become a part of the Chivas USA academy. Don’t miss the chance! For more information and to register online click here or call 1-877-CHIVAS-1.
