LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 6, 2011).- Chivas USA once again joined with long-time community partner Donate Life California for a special visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, aiming to raise awareness for organ and tissue donation. Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy visited several children currently waiting for a kidney transplant in the dialysis unit, followed by a number of bedside visits to children currently hospitalized at CHLA.

This hospital visit by Kennedy, the ChivaFighter, and Chivas USA staff members, was the first in a series of events scheduled throughout the year and through which Chivas USA will support Donate Life California in its mission to inspire thousands of Californians to consider becoming an organ or tissue donor by signing up for the California donor-registry.

Donate Life California is a nonprofit, state-authorized organ and tissue donor registry, administered by California's four nonprofit, federally designated organ procurement organizations, each responsible for facilitating the donation process in the state: OneLegacy, California Transplant Donor Network, Golden State Donor Services, and Lifesharing.

Those wishing to make the commitment to donate may register at the Department of Motor Vehicles or at donateLIFEcalifornia.org or its Spanish-language counterpart, doneVIDAcalifornia.org.
