The Rapids also won the second meeting of last season, winning 3-0 at home on September 4, and Colorado owns an 8-5-4 all-time record against the Red-and-White. Former Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein is the club’s all-time leading scorer vs. the Rapids, with three goals, while Colorado has three players tied for five goals against the Red-and-White.

UMAÑA, MORENO AND BOYENS JOIN NATIONAL TEAMS: A trio of Chivas USA players will be joining their respective national teams for upcoming international friendlies. Michael Umaña will be with Costa Rica for matches against China and Argentina, Alejandro Moreno with Venezuela for games vs. Jamaica and Mexico, and Andrew Boyens with New Zealand for its matchup against China. All three players will be gone for this Saturday’s home game against the Colorado Rapids and will miss the Tuesday, March 29 U.S. Open Cup game in Portland.

CONRAD SERVES AS CAPTAIN, GETS FIRST GOAL FOR CHIVAS USA: Defender Jimmy Conrad, acquired this offseason after 12 years in MLS, scored his first goal for Chivas USA in his debut with the club in Saturday night’s 3-2 loss to Kansas City. He finished from close range after a knockdown from a corner kick in minute 56, impressing the group of roughly 200 friends and family who came to watch the homecoming of the Arcadia, Calif. native. “It was my 20th career goal,” said Conrad after the match. “I’m averaging like 1.7 a season… I don’t if my math’s right.” Conrad, who majored in Math at UCLA, will need two more goals in 2011 to hit the 1.7 goals-per-season mark.
