Chivas USA trained today on Field 7 (turf field) ahead of Saturday’s match against MLS Cup Champions Colorado Rapids (7:30 p.m. PT, KWHY, KDOC, W Radio). Head Coach Robin Fraser worked with a tentative lineup that included Ben Zemanski in the defense. Also, Blair Gavin trained with the team and told reporters that he’s ready to play 90 minutes after suffering a hamstring injury that made him miss the second part of the 2010 season. He entered the match at the 62nd minute last Saturday.

When asked if he would rather face a team with many call ups or a complete team, Chivas USA defender Jimmy Conrad said that he will rather face and beat a team with all their players. Colorado will suffer two absences (Omar Cummings and Sanna Nyassi) due to international duty, meanwhile Chivas USA will miss four (Zarek Valentin, Michael Umaña, Andrew Boyens, Alejandro Moreno).

After tomorrow’s match, Chivas USA will have Sunday off and will travel to Portland on Monday to face the Timbers on Tuesday night in the US Open Cup.
