Chivas USA returned to the training field on Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s match against the Colorado Rapids, MLS Cup Champions, at 7:30 p.m. PT (KDOC, KWHY, W Radio) at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Head Coach Robin Fraser tested some options in the backline since Zarek Valentin (U-20 call up), Michael Umaña (International Duty), and Andrew Boyens (International Duty) won’t be available this weekend for the match against Colorado.

Attacking players worked with Technical Director Nick Theslof on shots on goal, Assistant Coach Greg Vanney practiced with midfielders, and Fraser worked with defenders.

Saturday’s task won’t be easy. The Rapids (1-0) have recorded three consecutive shutout victories against Chivas USA (0-1), outscoring them 8-0. Chivas USA has not scored against Colorado in 301 minutes, since winning the 2009 season opener 2-1 at The Home Depot Center. The Rapids have won in three of their last four games in Carson against Chivas USA, dating back to the second meeting there in 2007.
