Chivas USA forward Chukwudi Chijindu loaned to L.A. Blues

In separate transaction, Red-and-White acquire 2012 Supplemental Draft pick in trade for rights

CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, March 23, 2011) – Chivas USA made a pair of moves on Wednesday, loaning forward Chukwudi Chijindu to the L.A. Blues, as well as acquiring a 2012 Supplemental Draft selection from the Chicago Fire in exchange for the rights to defender Yamith Cuesta. Chijindu has already joined the L.A. Blues of the USL Pro Division, and will be with the team for the 2011 season.

Chijindu, 25, originally joined the Red-and-White at the start of the 2009 season, and has two goals and one assist in 23 matches (6 starts) with the club. A native of Fontana, Calif., Chijindu scored 26 goals in 86 games in a four-year career at the University of Connecticut.

Chivas USA has also received a 2012 Supplemental Draft pick from the Chicago Fire in exchange for the rights to defender Yamith Cuesta, who was signed by the Fire on Wednesday. Cuesta was waived by the Red-and-White early in the 2011 preseason, after playing 15 matches (12 starts) in two seasons with Chivas USA.
