Practice Report: February 22

Team returns to The Home Depot Center after week in Arizona

CARSON, Calif (February 22, 2011) - Chivas USA returned to The Home Depot Center on Tuesday morning for its first training session since the trip to Arizona in the first of the day's two sessions. The Red-and-White will practice twice on both Tuesday and Wednesday before going back to a single session on Thursday ahead of Friday’s scrimmage against D.C. United.

Tuesday morning's session began with passing and dribbling drills, but the emphasis was then on fitness for the final 40 minutes of the practice. Breaking up into small groups, the team did a circuit which consisted of sprints, agility work, and resting stations where players hit one-touch passes. After the session, the players headed back inside to rest for a few hours and watch Champions League soccer before an afternoon practice which will include more training with the ball.

Justin Braun trained fully, and is looking closer to a return to full fitness after he was slowed first by a laceration on his ankle suffered during National Team camp in January, then by a mildly sprained ankle suffered in practice. Simon Elliott, who took a knock on his knee in the scrimmage against San Jose, was also training without restrictions.
