Practice Report: 2/24
CARSON, Calif. (February 24, 2011) - Chivas USA trained on Thursday morning on Field 6 on a beautiful, warm California sunny day. The day began with a warm-up jog around the field and some stretching before the squad was divided into two groups. The first group consisted mostly of defenders, who spent most of the practice with Head Coach Robin Fraser, working on communications and closing the gaps as they moved around the pitch.
In the other group, Assistant Coach Greg Vanney and Technical Director Nick Theslof ran drills working on the attacking players’ spacing and partnering, controlling the ball and building chemistry on the field.
The practice ended with a jog around the field with Strength and Conditioning Coach Jim Liston as the assembled fans cheered every time the team passed. At the end of a difficult practice, the players were in good spirits and took their time cooling down, with some then signing autographs and others giving high fives to the fans that were on the sidelines for today’s session.
