Chivas USA joins PADRES Contra El Cancer efforts
PASADENA, Calif. (Saturday, February 26, 2011) - Chivas USA joined PADRES Contra El Cancer at the 4th Annual Stand for HOPE 5K Charity Run/Walk, an event held at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif., which was designed to raise money to support families and children with cancer
The event included appearances by celebrity guests that included National Spokesperson Eva Longoria and PADRES Ambassadors: Beto Cuevas (musician), Cristian De La Fuente (actor), among other personalities.

Chivas USA President and co-owner Antonio Cue, with his family, and other Chivas USA executives participated at the event, along with the ChivaGirls, the ChivaFighter mascot, the club's street team, as well as staff members and fans, all on hand to show their support. Before the event celebrity guests received a special gift from Chivas USA, the new 2011 home jersey. Chivas USA also provided event organizers with a number of team-autographed merchandize items for participating children and families.
Hundreds of individuals took part in the 5K Run/Walk. Participants that included pediatric cancer patients, their families, doctors and nurses. Padres Contra El Cancer is a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. The organization brings together children, families, healthcare professionals and community leaders to promote a comprehensive understanding of childhood cancer and other blood disorders, as well as, effective methods for their treatment.
This weekend's event served as the first in a series of initiatives through which Chivas USA will aim to support PADRES Contra El Cancer throughout 2011. Details of the year-long effort will be released later this year.

Among other personalities at the event were Amaury Nolasco (actor), Angelica Castro (actor), Yancey Arias (actor), Francisco Pinto (news anchor), Oskar Cartaya (musician) and Keven Ramirez (radio host). Alongside our Ambassadors will be PADRES Supporters: Josie Loren (actor), Enrique Gutierrez (sports anchor), Enrique Castillo (actor) and Cassie Scerbo (actor).
