Although the Goats don’t open camp until the end of this month, it’s anything but quiet around The Home Depot Center this week. In fact, Carson is arguably the soccer capital of the nation at the moment.

Three different United States national teams are holding their training camps at The Home Depot Center this week, sharing the Carson facility.

The US Men’s National Team is in the middle of their annual January Camp, with players training under the watchful eyes of head coach Bob Bradley and his staff. Twenty of the twenty-four players in camp, including Chivas USA’s own Justin Braun, currently ply their trade in Major League Soccer. The camp is being held in anticipation of an international friendly against Chile on January 22nd.

On literally the adjacent field, the US Women’s National Team is holding a camp of their own. Coach Pia Sundhage called up a roster of 26 to train under the Southern California sun. The team is sharpening up before the 2011 Four Nations Tournament in China later this month.

The US Women’s U-23 National Team is also training at The Home Depot Center this week.

Needless to say it’s a busy week around the “office” for us at cdchivasusa.com. But we’re not complaining. It’s nice to have soccer back at The Home Depot Center after a quiet couple of months, and it’s not too long until the MLS season starts now.
