Chivas USA announced on Friday that the club has declined the options for two players, Marcelo Saragosa and Alex Zotinca, who will be eligible for the 2010 MLS Re-Entry Process. The Stage 2 Draft will take place on Wednesday, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. PT. All 18 clubs will have a representative participate. Both Stage 1 and Stage 2 Drafts will be conducted in the same order as the traditional Waiver Draft, with Vancouver selecting 17th and Portland selecting 18th.
Marcelo Saragosa joined Chivas USA in 2009 via trade with FC Dallas, and made 22 appearances for the team (16 starts), registering one assist in his time with the club. Alex Zotinca played for Chivas USA in 2007-2008 before rejoining the team in 2010, making one appearance with the team this season. In his career for the Red-and-White, Zotinca has played 27 games (25 starts), notching three assists.
Chivas USA also announced on Friday that forward Eduardo Lillingston, whose option was also declined by the club, has joined Mexican First Division side Estudiantes Tecos. Lillingston played in 25 matches for the club (15 starts) in 2009, his one season with the club. In 2010, Lillingston was on loan at Mexican Second Division teams Club Tijuana and Indios de Ciudad Juarez.
Chivas USA broke camp before Thanksgiving and will return to training in late January ahead of the 2011 MLS campaign. Season Seats for 2011 are now on sale, with prices remaining at the same low rates as 2010. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please call 1-877-CHIVAS-1 or click here.
