Option Declined on Maldonado
CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, December 16, 2010) – Chivas USA announced Thursday that it has declined the contract option on Giancarlo Maldonado, who was on loan from Mexican First Division club Atlante. The Venezuelan forward joined Chivas USA midway through the 2010 season, scoring twice in league play.
Maldonado, 28, joined the Red-and-White on July 7, 2010 during the international transfer window. He played 612 minutes in MLS action, scoring two goals and adding one assist, and also scored one goal in SuperLiga. The Venezuelan international played for Atlante in the Mexican First Division from 2007-2010.
