ALUMNI UPDATE: Kljestan participates in Anderlecht’s victory

A recap of former Chivas USA players’ performance outside MLS

Former Chivas USA midfielder and captain Sacha Kljestan played 90 minutes in Anderlecht’s 2-0 victory over Club Brugge last Sunday in Belgian’s First Division League. The victory pushed Anderlecht back up to first place in the league with 44 points, just one point away from second place Racing Genk. Anderlecht’s next match will be on Sunday against Lierse SK.

In the English Premier League, Brad Guzan, along with club Aston Villa, had their match against Wigan Athletic postponed due to weather conditions. Guzan will be available for this match and for the club’s next match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Also in Europe, Germany’s Bundesliga 3 league, along with former Chivas USA forward Matt Taylor and his club Rot Weiss Ahlen, have postponed the remaining matches of the year due to weather conditions. The team began winter break and will return to training on January 3, 2011.

In Mexico, former Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein suffered a right thigh injury last Friday while in preseason with club Tigres from Mexico’s First Division League. Bornstein did not play in the team’s last scrimmage where the team took a 2-0 victory over Jaguares de Chiapas, but did play in the 1-1 draw with Atlante in Cancun. The Los Alamitos native is expected to be out of action 1-2 weeks.
