ALUMNI UPDATE: Bornstein continues preseason with Tigres

A recap of former Chivas USA players’ performance outside MLS

Former Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan started and played 57 minutes in his club Anderlecht’s 0-0 draw with Lokeren last Sunday in the Belgian Jupiler League. The result dropped Anderlecht from first place down to second place with 41 points, just one point away from first place Racing Genk. The next match for Kljestan and the Belgian club will be against Club Brugge on Sunday.

Also in Europe, goalkeeper Brad Guzan saw as his team, Aston Villa, take a 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the English Premier League. Guzan was on the bench for the match and will be available for the English club’s next match this Saturday against Wigan Athletic.

In Germany’s Bundesliga 3 league, Rot Weiss Ahlen and former Chivas USA forward Matt Taylor had their match against Werder Bremen II cancelled due to weather conditions. The match is set to be played on Sunday.

In Mexico, Jonathan Bornstein continues preseason training in Cancun with his club Tigres UANL from Mexico’s First Division League. Bornstein’s new club will have a scrimmage this Wednesday against local team Atlante. Tigres will then return to Monterrey where they will continue pre-season traning and hold a second scrimmage against Jaguares de Chiapas on Saturday.
