CARSON, Calif. (Monday, November 22, 2010) – In South Africa, former Red-and-White  goalkeeper Brad Guzan help the United States National Team to a 1-0 victory over South Africa in the Nelson Mandela Challenge. This was Guzan's 19th cap for the National Team as he served as captain for the match and stopped all 4 shots on goal. Guzan returned to England to be in the 18 for club Aston Villa, but was an unused sub in the squad's 2-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers. Aston Villa is currently in 13th place in the English Premier League with 17 points in 14 games. 


In Mexico, former Chivas USA striker Juan Francisco Palencia played 63 minutes in Pumas' 2-1 loss against Cruz Azul in the 1st leg of the Mexican Primera Division Quarterfinals. Palencia also played 61 minutes in Pumas' 2-0 victory in the 2nd leg, as Pumas knocked out 1st place Cruz Azul and advanced to the semifinals against Monterrey. Also in Mexico, forward Eduardo Lillingston played all 90 minutes for Indios de Ciudad Juarez in their 1-0 loss to Orizaba in the 1st leg of the Liga de Ascenso Quarterfinals. Former Chivas USA midfielder Francisco Mendoza contributed 78 minutes of play in the match as well. In the 2nd leg, Lillingston played all 90 minutes while Mendoza contributed 61 minutes, as Indios de Ciudad Juarez lost 1-0 again causing them to be knocked out of the  playoffs. Veracruz midfielder Juan Pablo García was an unused sub in the team's 1-0 victory over Lobos BUAP in the 2nd leg of the playoffs, as Veracruz eliminated Lobos BUAP and moved on to the semifinals against Irapuato. ‘Loquito’ has played in 10 games for Tiburones Rojos and has scored one goal in 619 minutes.


In Europe, forward Matt Taylor scored in the 77th minute to help Rot Weiss Ahlen defeat Aalen 4-2 in the German 3. Bundesliga. Taylor now has an incredible seven goals in ten games with Rot Weiss Ahlen since being transferred from FSV Frankfurt in July. Also in Europe, former Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan played 65 minutes in Anderlecht’s 1-0 win over with Beerschot. Anderlecht is in second place in the Belgian Pro League, just two points behind leaders Racing Genk.
