ALUMNI UPDATE: Taylor, 'Panchito', and Lillingston help lead teams to victory
CARSON, Calif. (Monday, November 8, 2010) – Former Chivas USA midfielder Matt Taylor scored the game-winning goal in the 81st minute to give club Rot Weiss Ahlen a 2-1 win over SSV Jahn Regensburg in the German 3rd Liga. Taylor now has an impressive six goals in nine games with Rot Weiss Ahlen since being transferred from FSV Frankfurt in July. Also in Europe, former Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan played all 90 minutes in both Anderlecht’s 1-1 draw with AEK Athens in the Europa League and their 2-2 draw with Club Brugge. Anderlecht is in third place in the Belgian Pro League, only two points behind leaders Racing Genk.
In Mexico, former Chivas USA forward Eduardo Lillingston played all 90 minutes for Indios de Ciudad Juarez in their 1-0 win over Tijuana. Former Chivas USA midfielder Francisco Mendoza contributed 86 minutes of play in the match as well. Mendoza has 4 goals and 3 assists in 1,254 minutes of play for Indios de Juarez while Lillingston leads the team with 9 goals in 15 games and 1,126 minutes of play.
Pumas striker Juan Francisco Palencia played 62 minutes in the team’s 2-0 win versus Necaxa. Palencia was substituted in the 62nd minute for Juan Cacho as the win moved Pumas up to ninth place in Mexico’s First Division. Veracruz midfielder Juan Pablo García is recuperating from an injury and will be out for another one to two weeks. ‘Loquito’ has played in 10 games for Tiburones Rojos and has scored one goal in 619 minutes.
In England, former Red-and-White goalkeeper Brad Guzan was an unused sub in Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw to Fulham. Aston Villa is currently in 14th place in the English Premier League with 13 points in 11 games.
