Alumni Update: Kljestan, Taylor, Lillingston score

CARSON, Calif.– Former Chivas USA players, midfielders Sacha Kljestan and Matt Taylor, helped lead their respective clubs to wins in league play over the weekend. Kljestan scored his second goal of the season and played all 90 minutes in Anderlecht’s 2-1 victory over league leaders Racing Genk. Anderlecht is now only two points behind Genk in the Belgian Pro League. Watch Kljestan's goal here:


Meanwhile Taylor scored two goals for new club Rot Weiss Ahlen in their 4-1 win over SV Wehen Wiesbaden. Taylor now has an incredible five goals in eight games with Rot Weiss Ahlen since being transferred from FSV Frankfurt in July.


In England, former Red-and-White goalkeeper Brad Guzan was an unused sub in Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw to Birmingham. Aston Villa is currently in 13th place in the English Premier League with 12 points in 10 games.


In Mexico, former Chivas USA forward Eduardo Lillingston scored his 8th and 9th goals of the season for Indios de Ciudad Juarez in their 4-3 win over Veracruz. Former Chivas USA midfielder Francisco Mendoza contributed 90 minutes of play in the match as well. Mendoza has 4 goals and 3 assists in 1,168 minutes of play for Indios de Juarez while Lillingston leads the team with 9 goals in 14 games and 1,036 minutes of play. Pumas striker Juan Francisco Palencia played 45 minutes in the team’s 2-1 loss versus Querétaro. Palencia came on as a substitute in the 45th minute for Oscar Rojas García as the loss dropped Pumas to tenth place in Mexico’s First Division. Veracruz midfielder Juan Pablo García is recuperating from an injury and will be out for another two to three weeks. ‘Loquito’ has played in 10 games for Tiburones Rojos and has scored one goal in 619 minutes.
