Romero plays 45 minutes with El Salvador
Chivas USA midfielder Osael Romero played the first 45 minutes with the Salvadoran National Team against Costa Rica in an international game played on Tuesday night in San Carlos, Costa Rica.
Head Coach Jose Luis Rugamas used Romero in the starting lineup and subbed him out in the second half for Shawn Martin. El Salvador lost the game 2-1 at Estadio Carlos Ugaldo in San Carlos, Costa Rica, in front of 4,000 fans. Jose Sanchez in the 10th minute and Josue Martinez in the 87th scored for Costa Rica, while Rafael Burgos scored for El Salvador at the 53rd minute.
Both teams are preparing for the UNCAF Cup, which will qualify teams to the 2011 Gold Cup, in January.
Chivas USA defender Darío Delgado was called up to the Costa Rican National Team but didn’t make the trip to Lima for the game against Peru or played against El Salvador after being diagnosed with a foot fracture suffered against the Union on August 29th.
