Practice Report: October 18

Justin Braun returned to practice after suffering a concussion vs. Toronto 10/9

Chivas USA trained this morning on Field 6 at The Home Depot Center under gray skies, kicking off what will be a busy final week for the Red-and-White. The practice session began with Head Coach Martín Vásquez addressing the team on the field, and then after a short warm-up, the team split into two teams and played a possession drill, attacking to small goals. Then the starters from Friday’s game in Seattle broke off and did some light jogging around the outside of the field. The rest of the group did a short field, 6v6 game, and after another 20 minutes, practice ended and some players worked on shooting on their own.

The highlight of the practice was the participation of Justin Braun, who has recovered from the concussion he suffered against Toronto FC on October 9. Braun was held out of the game on Friday in Seattle, but after a few days without any symptoms, he was cleared for practice and went through the full session.

After practice, captain Jonathan Bornstein started what will be a busy day of interviews. Bornstein, who will join Tigres of the Mexican First Division after this season, will be playing his final match for Chivas USA on Saturday against the Chicago Fire at 8:00 p.m. at The Home Depot Center.
