Chivas USA to participate in Spinal Injury Games in Downey this Friday
Chivas USA’s Dan Kennedy,
the ChivaGirls, and the ChivaFighter will participate this Friday at the 2010 Spinal
Injury Games in Downey, Calif. The annual Spinal Injury Games, which will be
held Oct. 8-9th, are organized by Rancho Los Amigos National
Rehabilitation Center and are designed for spinal injury patients to experience
a variety of wheelchair sports. The games are free to all participants and
include soccer, football, basketball, tennis, golf, among other sports.
and the ChivaGirls will greet participants during the Power Soccer section on
Friday from 11:00 a.m. to Noon. The Power Soccer section consists of
teams of 9 or 10 quadriplegic or tetraplegic patients that play the game using
a power chair. A bumper is placed in the bottom of the power chair and players
drive the chair to work toward scoring a goal.
will be raffle drawings every half hour for Chivas USA merchandise starting at
11:00 a.m. and continuing until 12:30 p.m.
Spinal Injury Games are funded by The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation, a
charitable organization that raises founds to provide services and equipment
for Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit and
world-renowned rehabilitation facility.
