ALUMNI UPDATE: Mendoza and Lillingston win with Indios in Mexico’s Liga de Ascenso

Former Chivas USA players, forward Eduardo Lillingston (pictured above) and midfielder Francisco Mendoza helped lead Mexican club Indios de Ciudad Juarez to a 3-2 victory over Atlante UTN last Saturday in Mexico’s Liga de Ascenso. Lillingston scored two goals in the 43rd and 72nd minutes, while Mendoza played 80 minutes in the win. Mendoza has 3 goals and 3 assists in 1,011 minutes of play for Indios de Juarez while Lillingston leads the team with 7 goals in 12 games and 856 minutes of play. Juarez is currently in third position in the Liga de Ascenso with a record of 6-4-3 and 22 points, seven behind first-place Tijuana.

Veracruz midfielder Juan Pablo García is recuperating from an injury and will be out for three to four weeks. ‘Loquito’ has played in 10 games for Tiburones Rojos and has scored one goal in 619 minutes. Veracruz is the second best team in the Liga de Ascenso with a record of 7-5-1 and 26 points.

In Mexico’s First Division, Isaac Romo didn’t see any action in Queretaro’s 3-2 lost San Luis on Saturday. He has contributed 2 assists and 810 minutes of play for Mexican side Querétaro in 12 games. Querétaro is currently in the 15th position with a record of 3-3-6, good for 12 points in Mexico’s First Division.

In Belgium, former Chivas USA midfielder Sacha Kljestan was an unused sub in Belgian club Anderlecht’s 1-0 loss to Cercle Brugge. Genk is currently leading the Belgian Pro League but Kljestan’s Anderlecht is getting closer, with 8 points behind.
